Welcome

Welcome internet visitor to From Kori's Corner, just another blog on the world wide web. I'm hoping to eventually get this looking more to my liking, but I also realize that those things take time.

I do apologize as this is optmized for 1024 x 768 (or higher) screen resolution. Perhaps, one of these days I shall get something more friendly for all screen resolutions... we'll see though.

June Already

Sheesh, where does the time go.

One month from tomorrow, Gabby will turn 7. That's a bit of a mind boggler right there, I tell ya. We're getting ready for the end of the school year/one week off/summer session. It's the one week that I worry about the most, since it's a big ole break in her routine. And, given her Autism, routine is so important to her. But, I'm sure that we'll think of something to keep her on track :)

Speaking of keeping on track, I was looking over at Nitwits for more digital scrapbooking stuff, and not sure if the link will work, but isn't the Noah's Ark collection adorable? I want to get that but really have nothing to scrap with it, lol. We haven't been to a zoo in awhile... but, I was thinking, maybe during that week that Gabby is off, I can look through the one Bible crafts & activities book that I have ... see what's what.

Anyway, have a few errands to run today so, I'm off for the time being then some stuff to do around the house. ... I hope everyone is well :)

I will never be a daily blogger it seems, lol. Even though with my LiveJournal I was able to ramble and whatever over there every day. I didn't really share a lot of my personal life over there, it was more about interests. Oh well. I'm not trying to say that I don't do anything interesting ... I really don't, but at the same time. I dunno, maybe it's also about comfort levels? Over on LiveJournal, I've got a few close friends I guess, but here ... well, within the CGC, I know more people.. And, I was thinking about this the other day, since the time I first stumbled on the CGC (if it's really that anymore, but that's for another day, lol) I've met so many different folks from all over the world. And that holds true with the internet in general, you know? But, I was thinking about this-- there are people that I've known online for years or at least for a good amount of time and I feel comfortable talking to them about anything or we at least know stuff about each other. And yet, in this neighborhood, I only know three of our neighbors :/ Growing up in New Orleans, we knew all of our neighbors. Even in the Bay Area, we knew most of our neighbors and ... hmm.. it just makes me kind of sad that neighbors just aren't what they used to be. At least that's how it looks to me.

Today, went grocery shopping with my mom. Well, more like stock up on supplies over at B.J's wholesale club. We don't buy a lot of things in bulk, but the things that we go through the most (like snacks, juice and such) it makes more sense to buy in bulk. So, that took up a good portion of the morning, I'm waiting to hear back from the hospital about volunteering there... or maybe I'll see about volunteering at one of the churches. I'm still church shopping-- trying to find the one that fits me instead of me trying to fit in with the church.. if that makes any sense?

I did want to say, Susan-- if we move this summer, it'll still be in New York. I've wanted to move out of the state for years, I really don't like it all that much here, lol. We have our four seasons which makes it very pretty but I'd be happy as a clam to move back to California or even closer to the South. The main thing that holds me back from looking out of state is that I'm not sure how other states are with services for people on the Autism spectrum. I know North Carolina is one of the best and so is New York. But hubby hasn't lived anywhere but New York so he's also hesitant.

Oh yes, over the weekend, we had Victor's birthday dinner at Hana- a new Japanese restaurant. We were at a Hibachi table, Gabby was absolutely enthralled with that thing, lol. I had a salmon dinner, quite delicious if I do say so myself. Then on Sunday (V's actual birthday), we went to my MIL's for the afternoon and had some ice cream cake. On Monday, I went to a Memorial Day service at one of the RCC churches, then we just had a pretty relaxing day.. We did head up to the Pine Bush Preserve for a bit but otherwise, nice day :)

I have some pictures to get off my digital camera to share, mostly of Gabby and Victor as I prefer to take the picture, lol.

So, that's that :)

Oh Fun

Tuesday, May 20, 2008

Sports and tv front- BoSox are back in first, Red Wings are moving on, game 1 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals is tonight (I think, lol) and the Mets have a day/night double header in Atlanta today. Last night on Dancing with the Stars, Kristi did absolutely wonderful. I have my fingers crossed that she's going to win it tonight... though now I dunno what I'll watch on Monday's anymore, lol. I still have Deadliest Catch to watch of course, on Tuesday and yeah.. I did watch the season finale of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on Sunday. Cried as per my usual, lol. Can't watch that show without crying.

Next week, need to head back to the DSS (Department of Social Services) to renew Gabby's medicaid. Hopefully we won't be stuck there all day like we usually are. Also need to make a doctors appointment for her (yearly physical) and dentist appointment which should be *loads* of fun. Oh yeah. Also need to get myself to the dentist, but.. ew. I can't stand dentists, lol. I don't really like hospitals either. Can't say that I mind getting my blood drawn but getting shots and the like, just yuck.

Also, we're still not sure if we'll be moving in the summer or not. It all depends on if we can find something and I've been looking ... I don't really want to go back to an apartment, I really want to avoid an apartment complex. I can't say that I'd overly mind a duplex, but ideally, I'd want to move to another house, you know? Just having that extra bit of space and privacy and whatnot.

Anywhoot, not sure what I'm up to for the day. It's really nice out today so might head out to read for a little while. I don't have anything new in the way of fiction, but I've always got non-fiction to read :)

TV & Stuff

Friday, May 16, 2008

On Wednesday, Victor had his Spring concert at School and bless those kids, I know they try and all of that but .. You would think that a school that specializes in Arts & Humanities could afford to tune their piano once in awhile :/ My goodness some of those violins were just really offkey, lol. But they tried and for the most part those kids did good. Of course, Victor is in choir (just like mommy was, hehe) and he had two solos! His choir teacher is also teaching them all how to read music, which is great I think :) All in all, wasn't that bad. I think part of me is just thrilled to see that much music involvement in a school. I think it's pretty important for kids in general and I know it's done wonders for Gabby.

I'm not sure if I've said this before but, I think I'm one of the few people in the United States that does not watch a lot of reality television. Like I do watch Deadliest Catch and I'll watch Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (never without crying of course) but otherwise, that's pretty much it. Last night I watched Grey's Anatomy and Ugly Betty ... the season finales for both shows are next week and I can't wait :D

Tonight, the Red Wings play the Stars back in Detroit, so hopefully the Wings can get it done and move on to the Stanley Cup Finals. Mets open up the Subway Series with the Yankees on Saturday and I'm not sure who the BoSox are playing to open interleague play.

Anyway, just waiting for Gabby to get home from school now then off to play catch up and try to talk myself out of purchasing small scrap kits or graphics that I really don't need, lol.

Mother's Day

Tuesday, May 13, 2008

Over the weekend, specifically on Mother's Day, we attended Tulip Fest, which is a local festival here in Albany. And, me being me, had to make a page on the website for it. In that whole little section there's pictures (including some of myself, yuck, lol). I am also hoping to get some of the pictures (with the kiddos and some of the flowers) digi scrapped sometime this week or over the weekend.

Other then that, haven't been up to too much. Still debating on what to do with the blog and such. Like I don't mind having one here, it's been ages since I've used blogspot, but I don't mind it just ... hm. I guess it also doesn't really matter when I'm as out of the loop as I am? Meh.

Anyway, I hope that everyone who is reading this is doing well :)

I wonder

If it would make a difference, moving the blog back to my website and keeping this one open for digi scrap and such only. Or if I should just stay here and open the other blog at the website only .. Hmm.

Honestly haven't been up to too much lately. There was a special education/special education law conference that I attended and other then that, I haven't been up too a lot. I have been looking for a part time job, just something to get me out of the house, you know? And if that doesn't pan out immediately, then maybe just some volunteer work or something.

I'm also still church shopping and hoping to get a few books from Christian Book; mostly Bible studies and one character study of Paul... I also picked up The First Days of Christianity from BestBuy. I haven't watched it on DVD yet, but I have seen parts of the series on History and AMC. It basically talks about the birth, ministry and death of Christ Jesus and also talks about the 12 Apostles, including Paul. Again though, I haven't had the chance to watch that just yet, but hopefully soon :)

Today is National Scrapbooking day (which, note to self: do not attempt to type while downloading, lol) and because of that, quite a few places are running sales. So, me being the semi-tightwad/penny pincher that I can be, I decided to get myself some new digital scrapbooking products. First stop was Faith Sisters, to pick up some new faith themed stuff and then it was off to Scrap Dish to get their Team Kit for April. I was going to get some more stuff, but I think I'll just wait and see what comes through as far as freebies go.

Hopefully I can actually make some progress with my layouts as opposed to just making Incredimail Stationary and/or signature tags with the scrapbooking stuff. I'd like to get around to making cards and such, just need to get a computer that's more up for handeling that sort of thing.
